Leading the Team - 1 day workshop

This workshop is designed as a one day introduction/refresher on the management role and responsibilities of a team leader. The workshop covers practical tools and techniques to build confidence in managing team members, from setting goals to giving feedback that motivates. The workshop explores Action Centred Leadership including a self-assessment questionnaire to explore the impact of your own management style and how to delegate effectively.

This workshop includes self-assessment questionnaires, discussion, practical sessions and action plans to support transfer of learning to the workplace.

Workshop Content:

The Role of a Team Leader:

  • What is my role/responsibilities?
  • Self-assessment and action plan

Leadership style:

  • Do I have a style?
  • Adair explored - Team vs Task vs Individual
  • Action plan on Leadership style and behaviours

Setting targets and giving feedback on performance:

  • Why set targets?
  • Communicating targets to the team and individuals
  • Giving feedback on targets

Motivation and Delegation:

  • What motivates my team members?
  • How to delegate effectively
  • Creating a delegation action plan

Action Plan:

  • What am I going to do differently as a Team Leader?
  • How will I measure success?
